DB: Fuel cell network replacement system Sömmerda signal box

Project description

In cooperation with the Regional Division Southeast and Proton Motor, the first modular fuel cell emergency power system (BZ-NEA) of the DB Bahnbau Group was put into operation in Sömmerda. The BZ-NEA replaces a defective diesel mains replacement unit at the Thuringia site of DB Netz AG.

The BZ-NEA was designed together with the headquarters of DB Netz AG and has successfully undergone the necessary trial operation (operational testing). In December 2020, the overall system of the partners DB Bahnbau Group and Proton Motor was granted series approval for use on systems of Deutsche Bahn, DB Netz AG.

Due to the consistently positive experiences, the implementation of further similar projects of the customer is intended. The implementation of these projects is in the planning phase. At the same time, the built and approved system is adapted to current and future requirements through further development.
