Fuel cell backup systems are the clean and reliable alternative to conventional diesel gensets. But are these already all areas of application for this technology? No. Other consumers of the rail infrastructure can and are also supplied with energy from fuel cells. For example, rural stations and stops are appropriate applications where train destination indicators, public address systems and lighting are supplied with environmentally friendly electrical energy around the clock.
