StasHH mission launched: Proton Motor member of new European consortium

A new European consortium of 25 leading hydrogen sector organisations, including Proton Motor Fuel Cell GmbH, is working together to define, develop and test the first European standard for fuel cell modules for heavy duty applications, starting on 4 February 2021. This fuel cell module standard can be the game changer that the fuel cell industry needs to improve market competitiveness by enabling competition, cost reduction and mass production.

The consortium, working together as “StasHH” (Standard-Sized Heavy-Duty Hydrogen), includes 11 fuel cell module suppliers, 9 original equipment manufacturers, and 5 research, testing, engineering, and/or knowledge institutes to standardize physical dimensions, flow and digital interfaces, test protocols, and safety requirements of fuel cell modules that can be integrated as stacks into heavy-duty applications such as forklifts, buses, trucks, trains, ships, and construction equipment. The consortium is receiving EUR 7.5 million from the European Union through the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) to boost the introduction of fuel cells in the heavy-duty sector. The total budget for the StasHH mission is EUR 15,2 million.
